Margaret Shrum is passionate about empowering women to love their bodies, discover their innate sensuality—and of course, become more in tune with their dressing routines!
For close to two decades, she has been an intimate apparel expert in New York City, working for the most prestigious high-fashion companies, including Barneys New York, La Perla and most recently, Journelle. She has helped countless women, including celebrity clientele, refresh and create their lingerie wardrobes.
In addition, for the past few years she’s harnessed the sensual power of intimate apparel, offering her unique combination of life coaching/lingerie consulting—what she calls The Lingerie Diet—to transform the lives of busy New Yorkers.
Why The Lingerie Diet? Because Margaret isn’t simply an intimate apparel stylist: she’s an expert in life’s ups and downs as well. Having grappled with raising a daughter on her own, Margaret knows all about the day-to-day battles women face. She knows how un-glamorous those battles can make a woman feel, and she wants every woman out there to discover what she herself discovered first-hand: that it is absolutely possible to feel—be—glamorous and sensual at all times, even while running errands. Especially while running errands! And by allowing glamour and sensuality into our daily lives, we open ourselves up to even greater enjoyment and fulfillment.
The Lingerie Diet is about real transformation: Margaret’s personal outreach to teach women to love their bodies and embrace the perfection of their inner courtesan and natural beauty. It is about truly discovering your sensuality, your own glamorous beauty, and making sensuality a part of your life, 24/7.
It’s Margaret’s hope for every woman — including her own daughter — that she enjoy her size, shape and age at every point throughout her lifetime.
In her own words:
I like to think of myself as a "sensuality stylist."
My interests began when I was a little girl, playing dress up with my Mom’s glamorous clothes, gowns, jewelry, accessories and high heels. I loved how I looked, especially when I put on a little of my Mom’s signature perfume, Chanel N°5, and her bright red lipstick.
My favorite thing to do was get all dolled up and walk through my sunny San Diego beach neighborhood—I was a courtesan at age 5! I flirted with the little boys, the neighbors and even the dogs! What bliss it was to feel as though the entire world was waiting for me, Margaret, to appear.
Yes, my journey as The Lingerie Goddess began back then, and my love of all things feminine and sensual became my life’s passion, one that has sustained me through my own life struggles. And today, I can think of no greater delight than to teach other women how sensuality brings not only great pleasure—but transformative strength!
